Hi, Andy! I got your comment on the previous blog, and I feel a little better. I will keep track of your progress on Deviantart; and I will still give you ideas, news, and interesting websites over here! I'd still appreciate it if you drop me a line once in a while; but you can comment back according to your convenience. Who knows, maybe someday I will get an account on Deviantart (I only hope I won't get accused of flooding then). Until that time, I'll just comment over here whenever I discover something interesting. I'm sorry I don't have anything of interest today, but I'll come up with something soon. I'm not going to comment daily like I have been doing (I'm reaching periods where I'm out of material), but I will comment often. If I ever vanish for a while, just continue to blame my busy home life; I will be back! Have a great day; and, as the saying goes, "See you on the flipside!"
Your happier loyal fan, Female Spy
P.S. I saw your newest comic already. LOL! I love that Knuckles added that random banana. You definitely have a bright future ahead of you in the world of comics!
Hi, Andy! Sorry it's been awhile, I've been dry as a bone on ideas; until now, that is. Last night it came to me: every big comic does at least one comedic Shakespeare story parody. If you go to the Sonic and pals website, for example, you'll find a parody of Hamlet featuring Sonic characters (I know it's a sprite comic, but a comic is a comic). You don't have to do the entire story, either; you can pick a well known scene like when Juliet tells Romeo, "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo?" You could make Sonic a temporary Romeo and Amy Juliet! If you don't want to do a Shakespeare parody, you can do a parody of one of your favorite novels; which would potentially be more original anyway. This idea may be out of the box; but with your imagination, I think you can make it work really well. That's my newest idea for the time being; I'll try to think of more later.
Hi Female Spy, how are you doing? Thanks for all the idea's. It was one of your suggestions about knuckles and the emeralds that gave me the idea for the Sonic Unleashed Plot Leak. I have a fair few idea's floating around at the moment and a comic to upload later. Have you ever considered drawing your own comics with your idea's? Or starting a sprite comic? -Andy
Hi, Andy! It's great to hear from you! I'm doing fine; how's life treating you? I'm very happy to hear that my ideas are helping you with your comic. I can't wait to see your new one! In response to your question, I actually have considered, as well as dreamed of, starting some sort of comic; but I don't even have a clue where to begin. I notice many people create their comics on their own private websites; but not only do I not have Dreamweaver, but I'm kind of inexperienced at it (and it's kind of a pain to use. I tried doing pictures with it in computer class and one part of the website came out funky). On sprites, I'm not sure I even have the right programs to use them. I've been thinking about sneaking under the eyes of my mom (I'm not so sure she'd go for it) and getting a deviantart account. The only thing stopping me is that it requires my email address and I'm not sure if membership alone stays free permanently. If I do end up joining, it will be a trial and error thing at first. To tell you the truth, I've actually never drawn Sonic or any of his friends in my life, even though I'm a huge fan *blushes*. My biggest concern, however, is that I've never uploaded art to a website before; and it's something I do not know how to do. I know it requires a scanner, and I have one; but that's about as far as I am. Regardless of these factors, I really am considering joining Deviantart to start something. It would help me greatly if you could answer some questions for me:
1. Is Deviantart membership alone free permanently?
2. If I tell them my website, will they protect if from everyone else?
3. If I do upload art there, will the website protect it from being stolen?
4. If I make an original character or two, will Deviantart prevent him/her from getting stolen?
5. Do you have any tips/suggestions about how/where I should begin (website or art wise)?
6. Does Deviantart take sprite items or does it only take, as I suspect, hand drawn art?
7. Can you give me an idea how to upload art or refer me to a page elsewhere that tells you how?
I think that covers everything. I'd really appreciate some pointers if you have extra tips to pass to a beginner. I'll await your answers. In the meantime, I bet your new comic will be a hit; as I said before, I can't wait to see it.
*Sort of continuing from the previous comment* Hi, Andy! I'm not sure if this matters or not; but just in case it's important, I wanted to mention that my scanner's brand is HP (I think that stands for Hewett Packard). It may also be worth mentioning that it's a scanner and a printer in one.
I also wanted to mention that I saw your newest comic, "Shadow Makes a Sandwich," earlier; and I laughed my head off for about ten minutes. Just out of curiosity, is Shadow planning on naming his 'Ultimate' sandwich Maria? XD I hope he doesn't cry if someone else comes by and eats it. ROFL! Hey...that's actually an idea! If you want to take your comic further, you can have a random character walk by and eat Shadow's sandwich; then, you can end the comic with Shadow looking aghast, screaming "Maria!", and crying. What do you think? Anyway, I think I'm ready to join Deviantart. All I need now are the answers to the questions I asked in my previous comment, to be sure. Should I start practicing drawing characters now as well?
In great anticipation of your new work and your answers, Female Spy
Hi, Andy! I know it has been a long time since I last commented, but I haven't had anything interesting enough to share. If you enjoy the comic at Sonic and Pals, you may enjoy a comic they often borrow material from. The website is:
http://www.bobandgeorge.com/
It's a megaman parody; but if you read it from the beginning, you'll understand the characters easily, and most likely get lots of laughs from it. I don't think the owner, David Anez, plans to make anymore comics; but there's a lot of them, and he's commenting on one daily if you're interested.
Have you been watching the Sonic X television series? It's a pretty good show. You can buy seasons 1, 2, 5, and 6 off of the amazon website. Oh, but I heard that American appliances don't work in Europe; does the same go for American DVDs? If you have the same/similar television services we do, you can also try to get the Foxbox channel; which may still show Sonic X. If you can only purchase one season at a time, I think the second one is the funniest.
In manner of videogames, do you have a Nintendo DS? If you do, you may want to check out a game called, "Magical Starsign." I don't think it's very well heard of, but it's a steal at around fifteen bucks if you like leveling up characters. I'm going to attempt reviewing it on amazon later if you want to learn more about it. Speaking of looking up games, there are a couple of great websites that share information, cheats/glitches, and gameshark codes for games; one of them is:
http://www.gamefaqs.com
The other one is:
http://media.gameboy.ign.com
I admit that I have taken advantage of a couple of glitches I've found in my games. ;) If I don't get around to the Amazon review, try looking in those places for further information. Anyway, that's all I have that's interesting at the moment. I'm still waiting for answers to the questions I have asked you; more importantly, however, I would like to hear how you are doing. It's been awhile. I notice your Deviantart page keeps track of your internet activity, so I know you are online every so often. BTW, I haven't been practicing my drawing techniques yet, but I have the title to my new comic and I want you to be the first to know about it. It will be called, "The Forgotten Characters Bin"! Featuring characters that Sega either stopped using, or don't use much. I also want you to be aware that if I do manage to start my comic, it will be very different from yours; and I will still give you ideas/interesting stuff. =) If you're looking for ideas now, look through some of my old comments; there are some ideas from me you haven't used yet. You don't have to use them, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of them in case you need them.
Hello, read everything but only have time to respond to your deviantart questions before i shoot off for a busy Saturday! Here goes.
1. Is Deviantart membership alone free permanently? -Yep, wont cost you a penny ever
2. If I tell them my website, will they protect if from everyone else? -Not really sure what you mean..sorry! You can put any information you want on there.
3. If I do upload art there, will the website protect it from being stolen? -No. People can save your artwork like any other image on the internet and claim it as their own unfortunately.
4. If I make an original character or two, will Deviantart prevent him/her from getting stolen? -Again, im afraid not! Anything you pop on Deviantart is out in public domain and they can pretty much do whatever they want with it. You could argue that ive "stolen" sega characters for my own comics. Us regular folks creations are even less copywrited and protected than sega's if you get my drift!
5. Do you have any tips/suggestions about how/where I should begin (website or art wise)? -Start with your funniest idea that preferably is simple to draw. Personally I prefer a badly drawn hilalreous comic to a masterfully drawn weak joke.
6. Does Deviantart take sprite items or does it only take, as I suspect, hand drawn art? -Deviantart will take any image. If its an image file it will work so sprite comics certainly yes.
7. Can you give me an idea how to upload art or refer me to a page elsewhere that tells you how? -Its extremely straight forward, once you have a deviantart account you click "submit a deviation" and follow the instructions.
Hi, Andy! I can't comment long (I'm waiting for a phone call and I have dial-up internet service, which totally stinks), but I wanted to thank you for answering my questions. I'm sorry to hear that Deviantart doesn't protect your things very well, but I think I'll give it a try anyway... eventually, that is. I'm starting to get increasingly busy with my summer, so comments may be few and far between; keep checking here for now, I'll drop you a line when I get a chance to move to Deviantart. Again, thanks for your help; I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to your new comic!
Hi, Andy! This will probably be my final comment here; know why? I'm on Deviantart, now! My name's still the same there, just without a space; and I've already dropped you a few lines there. I've started my new comic and I thank for giving me the advice I needed to join Deviantart. I really appreciate it! Drop me a line there soon, okay?
